Pipe Major Bruce Campbell
Music of the MacCrimmons
[DALCD005] - 10 in Stock
The MacCrimmons were the legendary Skye piping dynasty which flourished for almost three and a half centuries. While they are acknowledged as master pipers, composers and teachers their name is also interwoven with the classical music of piping - Piobaireachd (or Ceol Mor). Yet the evidence shows that their music is also vibrant as a strand of Gaelic song; but which came first the song or the Piobaireachd? On this album Bruce Campbell plays examples of Ceol Mor and the light music of the pipes, Ceol Beag, which is taken straight from the Gaelic song repertoire.
