Various Artists - Complete Songs of Robert Tannahill Volume 2
A weaver by trade and song-writer and poet by calling, Robert Tannahill of Paisley was born in 1774 and died in 1810. Over 100 songs, of a quality that compares with Robert Burns, constitute his great legacy. Dr Fred Freeman, producer & musical director of the internationally acclaimed The Complete Songs Of Robert Burns (in 12 vols, on Linn Records), decided to record for posterity The Complete Songs Of Robert Tannahill in 5 volumes, in conjunction with Brechin All Records. 2010 will marks the bicentenary of Tannahill's death. This is volume one of a project that brings these songs to life in contemporary adaptations that retain all the tradition of the music and lyrics.
